Singapore is one of the world’s most connected nations and infocommunications is a way of life for most Singaporeans, at work and at play.
The Intelligent Nation 2015 masterplan lays out the blueprint for Singapore’s infocomms strategies in the digital age, with the creation of some 80,000 jobs and an increase of value-add to SGD 26 billion.
Already, Singapore is the world’s most wired nation, with broadband penetrating 99% of homes as at December 2008. Under the Wireless@SG programme initiated by the Infocomm Authority of Singapore, free wireless broadband connection is made available at public places for three years from January 2007, to encourage usage.
More than 80 of the top 100 software and services companies have set up their regional headquarters in Singapore.
