A day in my life

  1. 8.00 am

Catching the company bus which brings us from HarbourFront across to Sentosa. Some of us are still yawning after last night’s karaoke session. We’ll be going again soon; it’s a favourite hobby, and my voice isn’t bad, if I may say so myself!

  2. 10.00 am

It’s been a hectic morning so far. With the resort opening in just a few months, our pre-opening team is working very hard. We’ve already gone through two meetings so I’m glad to take a break at the staff café. Hurray for free breakfasts!

  3. 11.00 am

It may be meetings and more meetings at this stage, but given that my work involves planning around a huge integrated resort, with a tight schedule to meet, it’s been extremely challenging yet 10 times more fun than any other job I know. Just imagine - I’ve worked with the Scorpion King and Marilyn Monroe, and travelled with Shrek and Princess Fiona. But my favourite aspect of this job is that the work itself is ever-changing; it trains me to think and act fast and efficiently.

  4. 12.30 pm

We take the short trip back to the mainland for lunch at the huge VivoCity mall. The girls are always tempted to shop, but fortunately there’s a huge variety of eateries to keep us guys (and our tummies) occupied.

  5. 3.30 pm

I feel great about how my career is going. It’s exciting to be part of something so new and big in Singapore, and I get the chance to work with some of the most talented and experienced people in the industry. They come from all over – the US, Australia, China, England, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam, you name it... and yes! Even Bulgaria.

  6. 6.30 pm

Time for our daily jog. My colleagues and I set off together from our office near the Palawan Beach and make our way along the coastline to Siloso Beach. It’s a 5km run with wonderful scenery, and fresh, cool air. It’s even more inspiring when we manage to catch the gorgeous sunset, like this evening.

  7. 8.00 pm

Back in the city for body combat and kickboxing at the California Fitness gym at Raffles Place. I’m teaching the class, not taking it! Teaching the class twice a week keeps me fit along with the jogs and basketball. I like sports, and Singapore has given me the opportunity to try everything. I’m all up for flowboarding at Sentosa’s new Wave House soon!

  8. 9.30 pm

Late dinner with my friends from the gym. We head to Boat Quay nearby to eat at one of the restaurants by the Singapore River as usual. Love the ambience there.

  9. 11.00 pm

Home with the wife – she’s had a busy day at work, too. We relax with some music and discuss plans for the new apartment we’ve just bought. Singapore really feels like home for us.
