Wellness
Whether it’s because of our cultural diversity or location, Singapore has embraced many traditional pampering and fitness therapies and transformed them into modern and specialised approaches to holistic living.
Singapore has also become a premier spa and wellness destination in Asia, offering numerous award-winning spas and unique concepts.
Healthy Lifestyle
Organic food can be found in the Cold Storage and NTUC Fairprice supermarkets. There are also specialty shops such as Supernature and eat Organic dotted around the island, as well as several on-line suppliers like Bunalun. L’organic at Dempsey is Singapore’s pioneer organic food market, while Bollywood Veggies is the place to go if you want produce fresh off the farm; the Poison Ivy bistro there will serve it a la minute.
Taiji and Qigong are as popular as ever, and almost every neighbourhood has its own practising groups. You will find them nearly every morning gathered in parks, beaches, and even void decks around the island. There is no formality, just join in and learn the moves as you go.
Yoga has taken off in a big way, and studios and freelance instructors are ubiquitous. One of the larger chains is True Yoga, which provides classes from Ashtanga Yoga to prenatal and even kid’s yoga.
Check out your nearest community centre, which offers sports and wellness classes at affordable rates. Or join in a beginner’s class at the Singapore Sports Council’s Learn-To-Play programme.
